Kako's father doesn't sell the family book store, so vandals burn it down. Kako meets Tokiwa Nanaka in front of the book store's ruins, who introduces Kako to the life of magical girls. The next day, Kako and Nanaka both discover that the culprit is under the influence of a witch, and later they find themselves in a labyrinth. Kako then successfully signs a contract with Kyubey in order to help Nanaka defeat the witch, and wishes for the book store to be restored.
